Udaipur: Shirin Zakiuddin Gorakhpurwala, a celebrated culinary achiever in the beginning from Banswara and now based in Nashik, has been recognized as one of the best home made professional chefs in the country. Known for her proper flavours, culinary innovation, and mastery over homemade cuisine - specifically Dawoodi Bohra delicacies and Indian fusion dishes - Shirin’s upward push from cooking for small gatherings to winning national accolades is truly inspiring. She has been honored with the distinguished Super Woman Award 2025 on the Forever Star India Awards, recognizing her excellence in the culinary world and her influence on aspiring chefs nationwide.

Early Beginnings: Passion Meets Purpose

Born into a traditional Dawoodi Bohra family in Banswara, Rajasthan, Shirin balanced early responsibilities as a  young wife and mother of two while nurturing her deep passion for cooking. Her culinary career took shape after she moved to Udaipur and began honing her talents, to begin with cooking homemade food for social gatherings, events, and small celebrations. Her commitment to quality soon led her to undergo professional training under acclaimed chefs such as Chef Vimal Dhar and Chef Sangeeta Dhar, sharpening her skills and broadening her culinary perspective. 

Career Milestones and National Recognition

Shirin’s skills shone through when she reached the Semi-Finals of the MasterChef India auditions in New Delhi in each 2016 and 2019 - a remarkable achievement reflecting her culinary prowess. She went on to win the Star Chef Competition Udaipur (Season 1, 2016), presented by Celebrity Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi. Her success opened doors to new opportunities, including collaborations with Wonderchef (Chef Sanjeev Kapoor) and serving dishes for noted chefs like Varun Inamdar.

In 2019, she realized her entrepreneurial dream by opening Tastebuds Restaurant in Banswara. She later expanded into frozen foods, ready-to-eat meals, and released a Cloud Kitchen in Udaipur in 2024 alongside her daughter Arwa. Today, Shirin is progressing towards establishing a fine-dine restaurant and building a PAN-India food franchise network.
